The research team at the Plant Biotechnology Laboratory, affiliated with the Palestinian–Korean Biotechnology Center, has succeeded in documenting the genetic fingerprint identifying two rare fungal species that grow in limited environments in Palestine. These two species belong to the genera Inocybe and Spathyrella, which are part of a rare family of macrofungi that grow in areas west of Hebron. The genetic fingerprint data has been published in the global gene database of the NCBI. This research, which was partially funded by PalUROP, paves the way for future research to study and discover the characteristics of these fungi, their biological and medical activities, and their various applications. This work was supervised by Dr. Rami Arafah and Mr. Zaid Al-Tarda from the center, along with students Osama Al-Raja‘i and Waad Al-Kurd from the Applied Biology program – Faculty of Applied Sciences. We congratulate the research group on this achievement.
