Description

This project aims to investigate the association between the inflammatory potential of habitual diet, measured using the Dietary Inflammatory Index (DII), and the severity of coronary atherosclerosis among adults undergoing their first elective diagnostic coronary angiography in Palestine. The proposed analytical cross-sectional study will assess dietary intake over the previous 12 months using a culturally adapted food frequency questionnaire and evaluate coronary atherosclerotic burden using the Gensini score derived from angiographic images. Additional demographic, behavioral, clinical, and laboratory variables will be collected to account for potential confounding factors. Rimaa Hashlamoun and Sarah Osaily will participate in the literature review, dietary assessment preparation, data collection, data management, analysis, and dissemination of findings under the supervision of the research team. The study may contribute locally relevant evidence concerning dietary inflammatory potential and coronary atherosclerotic burden. The study will proceed only after obtaining the required ethical and institutional approvals and confirming that dietary DII calculation and angiographic scoring are feasible.
