Description

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in Palestine, and limited awareness of its signs, symptoms, and risk factors remains a public health concern. According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health’s Annual Health Report for 2025, only 1.9% of the target population of women aged 40–64 years in the West Bank underwent mammography, highlighting the need to strengthen breast cancer awareness and early detection. Healthcare undergraduates can play an important role in promoting community awareness, making it essential to assess their knowledge and identify educational gaps. This cross-sectional study aims to assess breast cancer knowledge among approximately 450 male and female undergraduate students in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, and nursing at Palestinian universities in the West Bank. Data will be collected using an anonymous, self-administered online questionnaire covering breast cancer knowledge, signs and symptoms, and risk factors. The findings will compare knowledge across disciplines, academic years, and gender, while examining associated academic and sociodemographic factors, information sources, and participation in awareness activities. The study aims to inform targeted educational interventions and strengthen undergraduate health sciences education and community breast cancer awareness initiatives in Palestine.
