Description

In this project, algal isolates from soil living in freshwater will be selected then re-cultured for several cycles on different enrichment media (0.1X MS, 1/2X MS, Spirulina media, and soil extract). Following to initial growth, serial dilutions followed by plating, microscopic identification and selection will be carried out simultaneously. Cultures that appear under the microscope with single species will be characterized by sequencing rDNA region and confirmed by BLAST comparison. Culture media will be manipulated (concentration and additives) and studied in order to obtain the highest algal biomass.
