Description

This project will investigate how adults use generative artificial intelligence tools for self-diagnosis and health-related decision-making. The study will assess how frequently individuals use AI to interpret symptoms, laboratory results, medications, or possible diagnoses; the level of trust placed in AI-generated health information; whether AI influences decisions to seek, delay, or avoid professional medical care; and whether users disclose this use to healthcare professionals. A cross-sectional survey design will be used to identify patterns of use and factors associated with greater reliance on AI for personal health decisions. The findings may help clarify how generative AI is shaping patient behavior and inform future strategies for safe, responsible use of AI in healthcare.
