Bio

Recent research has led to a number of new ways to describe quantum field theories and gravity, together with unexpected links between them. These links are described in general as the "double copy". Since its discovery around 2010, this area has developed rapidly with a variety of different approaches yielding interesting and surprising results. In this project the student will review this work in general terms and choose, in discussion with the Faculty member, a particular topic of interest to explore in more detail, depending their interests and background knowledge. A knowledge of areas of undergraduate physics and mathematics to first or second year level would be an advantage; the project can be tailored to the level of the student’s background. The start date will be in mid 2025 with some flexibility. Duration is expected to be 2 to 3 months.
