My research interest is in studying genetic and environmental factors that enhance agricultural productivity and improve utilization of natural resources in Palestine
Palestine’s diverse topography and rich ecological zones harbor a wide array of macrofungal species, many of which remain undocumented. This project aims to identify and catalog macrofungi across selected habitats using a dual approach: morphological characterization through field surveys and molecular identification via DNA barcoding in the biotechnology lab. Fieldwork will involve systematic sampling and visual classification based on macroscopic traits, while laboratory analysis will target conserved genetic markers (ITS region) to confirm species identity and uncover cryptic diversity. The integration of morphological and molecular data will contribute to a foundational reference for fungal biodiversity in Palestine, supporting conservation efforts and future ecological research
