This project aims to integrate quantum-assisted optimization with RISs to enhance communication efficiency and security. By leveraging algorithms like quantum annealing and variational quantum algorithms (VQAs), we will develop a framework that dynamically configures RIS parameters for optimal performance. Additionally, quantum security protocols will be incorporated to ensure robust and secure transmissions. The research is structured in four phases. First, we will model the RIS-quantum communication system. Second, we will implement quantum optimization techniques to control RIS configurations. Third, QKD will be integrated into the framework. Finally, we will simulate real-world scenarios and benchmark our system against classical optimization techniques. Expected outcomes include improved spectral and energy efficiency, enhanced security against eavesdropping, and the development of an open source simulation toolkit for the quantum-RIS hybrid network. The proposed work addresses a significant gap in the intersection of quantum computing and RIS-based wireless communication.
